  • Purchased property, hired an architect, broke ground, obtained funding and started construction
  • Conducted city-wide Town Hall meetings to gather input on the new City Hall
  • Honored 2006 Ballot Decision to site a new city hall downtown Poulsbo

  • Completed Comprehensive Plan Review Process
  • Established citizen advisory groups to work in conjunction with the Planning Commission in order to review and recommend changes to the Critical Areas Ordinance and the Planned Residential Development codes
  • Continued updating the comprehensive plan process through the Long Range Planning Committee and citizen participation
  • Hired consulting firm to guide Long Range Planning Committee during Comprehensive Plan

  • Marine Science CenterSecured $500K grant from the State Capital Budget, a $250k grant from CTED (State) and re-opened the Marine Science Center
  • Poulsbo Centennial Committee – Hosted four major events to celebrate & honor Poulsbo’s civic history; including the 1st Annual Summer Street Dance
  •  Vetter HomesteadCoordinated with Kitsap Consolidated Housing Authority to develop Vetter Homestead, the largest self-help housing program in the state
  • SR305 Improvement Project – Completed improvement project, opened up two additional lanes, creating a HOV lane, to ease congestion through Poulsbo
  • Hosted a joint public meeting with the Suquamish Tribe, Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island City Councils, Kitsap County, and Kitsap Transit to discuss the SR 305 Corridor and other common issues
  • Centennial ParkOpened the new Centennial Park and unveiled the Centennial Sculpture
  • Poulsbo Historical Society – Signed agreement with the Society for use of Martinson Cabin at Nelson Park

  • Held Annual Council/Mayor Retreats – To discuss city goals, priorities, and levels of services
  • Hired New Staff – public works director, chief of police, deputy chief of police, city clerk, deputy city clerk, planners, building inspector, police and office clerks, finance director, finance clerks, grounds technician, maintenance technician, engineering technician and information systems specialist
  • Host Employee Appreciation Luncheon – Continued to honor all City employees, with special recognition given to employees reaching 5, 10, 15, and 20 year longevity milestones, as well as to those who had recently retired
  • Emergency Operations – Updated the City’s Emergency Operations Plan, and participated in countywide Emergency Operations center drill • Police Department Process Study – Conducted to create a more efficient work environment
  • Established Hearings Examiner position
  • New Software Update – Continued implementation

  • Website Redesign – Redesigned the City Website to ensure better methods of communication, easy navigation, and instant updates on city projects
  • Citizen Communication – Continued updating citizens with current information via the website, news releases, and maintaining an open door policy
  • Legislators – Continued working to develop Marine Science Center funding, inform them about LEVX, solicit their support for an adequate ferry system, encourage support for a baccalaureate program in Kitsap County
  • Boards and Commissions – Served as board member or commissioner with Kitsap Transit, Kitsap Regional Coordinating Council, Kitsa County Consolidated Housing Authority, Board of Health, Department of Emergency Management, CENCOM, Municipal Research Services Center, Puget Sound Regional Council, Kitsap Economic Development Alliance and Association of Washington Cities Nominating Committee
  • Suquamish Tribe – Established a formal committee and signed MOU with Suquamish Tribe to conduct quarterly joint meetings Mayor Summits – Participated in
  • Mayor Summits to discuss local, regional, and national issues affecting our City

  • Harrison Medical Center – Sold the 10th Avenue property to the medical center, bringing in medical services and cancer treatment resources to the Poulsbo, North Kitsap, and the greater Olympic Peninsula
  • Opened Major New Businesses – at College Market Place and other locations in town
  • Stimulus Grants – Obtained stimulus grants for the vital improvements of Viking Avenue • Downtown Parking Study – conducted a study to plan for more parking availability
  • Held Joint Meetings – with School Board to discuss Regional Events Center
  • Traffic Demand Management Study – conducted to analyze traffic patterns improve congestion through Poulsbo
